When a sequel to [Rec] was announced, it just seemed a matter of time before another Quarantine arrived, [Rec]'s damaged, American, fraternal twin. However, this time around it looks like it may not be a shot-for-shot remake.
Sony Screen Gems has hired John Pogue to write and direct the sequel, which will see the action take place inside an airport rather than take place in the same apartment building moments after the events of the first movie, like [Rec] 2 does.
For those unfamiliar with Pogue, he was the writer given the impossible task of writing a sequel to The Fugitive, the forgettable U.S. Marshalls. I'm sure he would prefer that you don't hold it against him. He also wrote the Skulls trilogy and Ghost Ship.
Quarantine 2 is planned for a DVD-only release, though if it's absolutely amazing, it could very well hit theater screens.
