That's right, zombies. You have the right to moan about whatever you want.
An appeals court in Minneapolis, Minnesota has granted a group of protesters dressed as zombies the right to continue their lawsuit against the police for detaining them or disorderly conduct when they protested in front of a mall in 2006 (Mall of America, we hope?). The court found that the police officers had no right to detain the protesters who were simply "dressing as zombies, and walking erratically in downtown Minneapolis."
The appeals court further ruled: "An objectively reasonable person would not think probable cause exists under the Minnesota disorderly conduct statue to arrest a group of peaceful people for engaging in an artistic protest by playing music, broadcasting statements (and) dressing as zombies."
The seven zombies are seeking $50,000 dollars apiece, which seems appropriate for "being detained". Think big, zombies!
More importantly, did anyone check a pulse of the protesters? Romero's crusade against consumerism launched in the 1970s, but you know zombies, once they start, they never stop.
